Riots broke out at the Manchester City – Liverpool match in the Carabao Cup. The away team fan was accused of throwing objects over the home team’s fan stands. Meanwhile, a Manchester City fan was arrested and kicked out of the stadium. A group of Liverpool fans with disabilities were also accused of racism.
Before this trouble, Man City and Liverpool simultaneously issued a joint announcement:
“Manchester City FC, Liverpool FC and the Presidents from our support groups have worked together in recent weeks to remind fans of the team’s expectations. Both clubs want to feel Thank you to the vast majority of the fans for their behavior at the Etihad Stadium at the Carabao Cup last night.”

Two groups of Man City and Liverpool fans caused riots at Etihad.
“However, It’s disappointing that some incidents are completely unacceptable. These incidents will be fully investigated, reported to the police and the individuals responsible will be subject to the respective club’s sanctioning procedures. Manchester City FC and Liverpool FC are fully committed to working together to eliminate these issues from our matches. They shouldn’t have a place in football.”
The most notable incident was the incident when a Liverpool fan threw a heavy plastic bottle full of coins at the head of a 15-year-old girl. As a result, the girl suffered a head injury. Greater Manchester Police are looking into the incident.
