Over the weekend, the Football Federation of Malaysia (FAM) officially announced phase 2, The F:30 roadmap brings the Malaysian team into the top 5 in Asia within 3 years. The first phase was implemented in 2018. Currently Harimau Malaya is ranked 137th on the FIFA rankings and 24th in Asia.
The ambition and methodicalness of this plan has caught the attention of both the World Football Federation (FIFA) and Asia (AFC). Speaking at the ceremony announcing phase 2 of the F:30 roadmap, FIFA President Gianni Infantino shared.

“Instead of taking the easy route, FAM is taking integrated measures and the Fifa Forward program plays an important role in Malaysian football,” the Swiss president said. “There is no doubt that this is a success that has seen Malaysia enter the Asian Cup for the first time in 42 years and steadily move up the FIFA rankings.”
Meanwhile, Asian Football Confederation General Secretary Datuk Seri Windsor John said that this is a bold plan that shows the great ambition of Malaysian football but believes that FAM will succeed.
As for the Malaysian Football Federation, FAM President Hamidin Amin said: “In the past 4 years, we have done many things. I am not saying it is great but overall there have been certain successes. “
According to the F:30 roadmap, FAM aims for Malaysian teams to qualify for the Asian Cup Finals and the U23 Asian Finals, both taking place in Doha, Qatar next year.
