The Norwegian international initially joined the Gunners on a half-season loan in the January 2021 transfer window and helped Mikel Arteta’s side reach the Europa League semi-finals.
Although the Gunners failed to win the title, the midfielder did more than enough to convince Arsenal to complete a £31m signing and he quickly established himself as a key part of Arteta’s squad.

Real will not be able to actively buy back Odegaard.
His first full season at the Emirates saw Odegaard score seven goals and provide five assists but it is not until this season that his influence on the Gunners really grows. The Norwegian has had 12 goalscoring appearances in just 21 appearances.
There have been speculations that Odegaard will return to his former club Real Madrid but journalist Fabrizio Romano says Real have no buy-back clause for him:Real Madrid do not have any buy-back clauses for Martin Odegaard. He loves the Arsenal project. It’s Edu’s masterpiece in 2021. Real Madrid don’t want to sell Martin, Arsenal wait until they get the green light for under 40 million euros.”
