Early next year, the president of the Football Association of Thailand (FAT) – Mr. Somyot Poompanmoung – will expire. The race for the seat will begin with two candidates, former FAT president Worawee Makudi and former player Piyapong Piyaphong.
Both vowed to do better than their predecessors if they won the election. Because although Thailand has had three Southeast Asian championships under the reign of President Somyot, he still left many controversies with allegations of corruption, financial fraud and making many wrong decisions.
It is likely that two candidates Worawee Makudi and Piyapong Piyaphong will be under competitive pressure from Madam Pang. This most wealthy businessman in Thailand answered when asked about the possibility of running for the FAT presidency: “I myself think quite carefully. Many nights I thought I would try, many nights I thought that I would try. he (Somyot Poompanmoung) is doing a good job. The clubs have also asked me but I can’t decide yet.”

The director of the Thai teams said that she would have to change a lot if she wanted to win the chair of the federation president, because she was the owner of Port FC in the Thai League. “Things are not simple. There are still a lot of things to discuss,” Madam Pang emphasized.
But fans still want Madam Pang to drive the country’s football. In the past 3-4 years, she has made many contributions, helping Thailand win the AFF Cup twice and win silver at the 31st SEA Games.
In major tournaments, she has shown her role as a leader and effective supporter for the team. She also made decisions that were considered progressive, which changed Thai football. Not to mention her financial potential is the most powerful among the candidates. With what has just been announced, it is entirely possible that Madam Pang will run for the presidency for the next 4-year term.
