Mkhitaryan was an important factor in Inter’s journey to the European Cup final. However, the former MU player was injured in the semi-finals and was not 100% fit when he and the team went to Istanbul.
Despite that, Mkhitaryan still had a confident share before the ball kicked off: “Man City have the strongest squad in Europe and a strong midfield, but Inter are also very strong. We hold the ball well. And the attack is also very effective.”
However, in the end, Mkhitaryan was still not included in the starting list in this morning’s match. Inter’s three-man line includes Barella – Brozovic – Calhanoglu. Mkhitaryan was only brought on in the 84th minute to replace Calhanoglu but could not help Inter equalize in the short remaining time.
Despite only enjoying the atmosphere of the final, Mkhitaryan also made his name in history when he became the first Armenian player to play in a Champions League final.
