A young coach impressed when helping the parent club reach the top of the Bundesliga, clearly enough to attract any attention. As a former Real Madrid player and world champion with Spain, it is no surprise that Xabi Alonso is rumored to lead Real Madrid.
Alonso is heavily linked with a return to the Spanish capital. Carlo Ancelotti’s contract will expire at the end of the season and he is expected to lead the Brazilian national team. The Italian coach even expressed his thoughts about Alonso replacing him.

Alonso is highly likely to lead Real in the future.
“I worked with Alonso when I was a player. He has very high football knowledge,” Ancelotti himself admitted. “He is doing a very good job at Bayer Leverkusen and has the ability.”
The 41-year-old coach joined the German team in October 2022, just signed a contract extension until 2025, brought the team to the Europa League semi-finals in his first season and is currently at the top of the German National Championship. Alonso has also rejected interest from Tottenham.
Now, according to Forbes, Alonso has a release clause in his current contract. That will allow the former Liverpool player to leave if Real invites him. Sources confirm that Alonso is highly likely to replace Ancelotti.
The philosophy of attacking football based on ball control is the reason Alonso is expected to become the new Real Madrid coach.
