Goncalo Inacio of Sporting Lisbon was identified as a target for Manchester United earlier this year, as he was considered a replacement for Harry Maguire in the summer. However, the England international remained at Old Trafford and as a result, the Red Devils did not bring in a new centre-back.
Man Utd’s interest in Inacio has not waned, but they now face stiff competition from Liverpool after The Kop saw the Portuguese player play for the national team. Inacio started for Portugal alongside Manchester City’s Ruben Dias at the heart of defense in the 5-0 win over Bosnia.

Liverpool wants Inacio.
According to the publication A Bola from Portugal, Liverpool sent people to scout their goals throughout the match. This move shows that the Anfield team is determined to recruit a midfielder who plays for Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese club has a contract until summer 2027 with Inacio. Therefore, Sporting Lisbon is not under pressure to sell their key players and can charge high prices to Liverpool and Man Utd.
Inacio has made 133 appearances for Sporting after joining the first team in 2020. He has experience playing in the Champions League, Europa League and has played 4 times for the national team.
