Virgil van Dijk is facing some time out for Liverpool after picking up a hamstring injury against Brentford. The Dutch captain was substituted as the Reds were trailed 2-0 by goals from Ben Mee and Yoane Wissa.
Jurgen Klopp initially said the substitution was just a precaution but tests later confirmed Van Dijk’s hamstring injury could keep him out for the rest of the month. Subsequent assessments will provide clearer conclusions about how long Van Dijk will be out of action.
Either way, Liverpool will also lose Van Dijk for a while and this could be a big blow to Klopp amid the fact that this team is in great difficulty. Joel Matip is likely to feature alongside Ibrahima Konate, while Joe Gomez and Nat Phillips could also play during Van Dijk’s recovery.
Currently, the Red Brigade is also without Diogo Jota, Luis Diaz, Roberto Firmino, Arthur Melo, James Milner.
