Colombian authorities confirmed on Saturday that Luis Diaz’s parents had been taken hostage. While his mother has been released, his father remains under the control of his kidnappers.
A large-scale search by the military and police for Father Diaz is still going on. A reward of £39,000 has been offered to anyone who can provide information.
Due to family matters, the former Porto star was absent against Nottingham Forest last weekend. The player born in 1997 will continue to miss the match against Bournemouth in the Carabao Cup.
Speaking at the pre-match press conference on behalf of Jurgen Klopp, assistant Pepijn Lijnders shared:

Diaz is having family problems.
“We have to try to support him as much as possible, a lot of things are out of our hands. The club hopes that Colombian authorities can find his father, the team prays for that“.
“The whole team responded brilliantly by holding up his jersey. Our motto is ‘You Will Never Walk Alone’. So we just prayed for a good situation.”
“As long as Diaz knows the club is doing all the right things and we are praying. The whole club supports him.”
