Despite their high form, Liverpool lost 1-3 to Brentford. It was a match that Jordan Henderson could not attend due to injury and the trio of Thiago, Harvey Elliott, Fabinho was completely overwhelmed by Brentford.

Liverpool need more personnel in midfield.
Ibrahima Konaté opened the match with an own goal in the 19th minute. At half-time, Yoane Wissa made it 2-0 for Brentford, with a difficult header. Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain then pulled back a goal for the visitors early in the second half. But Bryan Mbeumo drowned Liverpool’s hopes of scoring with a late goal.
After the game, Jamie Carragher said Liverpool needed to spend £200m to add three more midfielders. Carragher told Sky Sports: “You would think how Chelsea and Manchester United have spent in the summer and they are still not close to winning the title, so it shows you how much money has to be splurged to race to the top.”
“Liverpool, year after year, buy somebody, sell somebody. But at this moment, I think, Liverpool need to spend around £200m.”
“I’m not saying that’s the secret to success because there are a lot of teams that spend a lot of money, but it doesn’t work. But Liverpool need three new midfielders, I would say.”
