The Japanese team crushed El Salvador Having the advantage of playing early, Takefusa Kubo and his teammates won a big 6-0 victory over El Salvador in a friendly match on the afternoon of June 15.
In Japan’s first friendly match in the FIFA Days friendly series, El Salvador, the team is ranked 75th in the world. Takefusa Kubo started from the start and had a sublime performance with 1 goal and 2 assists, thereby helping “Blue Samurai” win a big victory at home.
In the first minute, Kubo made a mark with a precise free-kick for Shogo Taniguchi to cross, heading into the net of El Salvador. 3 minutes later, the score was 2-0 for Japan, when Ayase Ueda successfully scored the penalty.
In the 25th minute, the Toyota City stadium stood up again to celebrate, after a classy finish from outside the penalty area, making Kubo’s score 3-0. Japan closed the first half with a four-goal gap, when Ritsu Doan kicked the net in the 44th minute.
Before leaving the field in the 65th minute, Kubo made a mark with a “needle” assist for Keito Nakamura to raise the score to 5-0. Kubo is in peak form. In the season 2022/23, he was voted Real Sociedad’s best player of the season with 9 goals, 9 assists, 48 passing chances, 57 successful passes. Most importantly, Kubo helped Sociedad win tickets to the Champions League after 10 years of waiting.
After Kubo left the field, Japan added a sixth goal against the opponent thanks to Kyogo Furuhashi, the star wearing Celtic shirt.
On June 20, Kubo and his teammates will have another friendly match against Peru.
