Coach Ronald Koeman made a big surprise when he removed defender Jeremie Frimpong from the Dutch team’s summons list in March. The star of the Bayer Leverkusen club regularly entered the Bundesliga’s typical squad this season, and was also awarded the title. The press has been linked to Man United recently.
The 22-year-old defender played sublime this season with 7 goals, 5 assists; caught the eye of coach Erik ten Hag. Frimpong is considered a possible addition, strengthening the competition with the duo Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka.

Frimpong played impressively in the ability to support the attack.
Sharing the reason for excluding Frimpong from the summons list, coach Koeman said: “Not calling Frimpong? This comes from the Dutch tactical system applied. He almost plays as a winger. Right. My first requirement is that the defender must possess defensive qualities. I doubt this.”
Thus, the 22-year-old defender needs to prove enough, improve his defensive ability in Koeman’s eyes. The Netherlands will face France and Gibraltar in the EURO 2024 qualifying campaign in March.
