Cody Gakpo is Liverpool’s first rookie at this year’s East Market. The Dutch striker completed his move to The Kop from PSV Eindhoven in a £45 million deal. Liverpool overcame heavyweights like Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal in the Gakpo deal.
Many fans questioned the debut match of the 23-year-old star in The Kop shirt. Share on this issue, coach Jurgen Klopp said: “We believe that he plays as soon as possible. The truth is, I think there is no chance for Gakpo to play against Brentford.”
Klopp shared about Gakpo.
“January 1, we have to complete the paperwork and some transfer procedures. Liverpool will not be in a hurry. Therefore, Gakpo is likely to play in the match against Wolves. He’s a really good player. This is clearly an interesting deal.”
“Liverpool are very interested in bringing Gakpo into the squad. I am happy to have the opportunity to work with him. A great opportunity for Gakpo and for Liverpool.”
The former PSV star promises to bring a quality addition to Liverpool’s attack in the second phase of the season. Gakpo can play well in the role of a left-sided striker, number 10, and a central striker.
