On the morning of March 16 (Hanoi time), Liverpool lost 0-1 to Real Madrid and said goodbye to the Champions League 2022/23. This is the 4th time under coach Klopp, “The Kop” has lost to “Los Blancos” in the European arena.

In the Champions League final 2021/22, Liverpool also lost 0-1 to Real by the only goal of Vinicius Junior.

Before that, two elite representatives of English and Spanish football met in the Champions League final 2017/18. The victory still belongs to Real by the goals of Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale (double). The only scorer for Liverpool was Sadio Mane.

In the quarter-finals of the Champions League season 2020/21, coach Jurgen Klopp’s teachers and students were eliminated because they lost 1-3 to Real in the first leg and drew 0-0 in the second leg.

Since 2015, “The Kop” has faced “Los Blancos” eight times without a win.

Sevilla is also a La Liga team that once sowed sorrow for Klopp’s teachers and students. In the 2015/16 Europa League final, the Premier League club lost 1-3 to a La Liga representative. Daniel Sturridge scored the only goal for Liverpool while Kevin Gameiro and Coke (double) scored for Sevilla.

In the round of 16 of the 2019/20 Champions League, Atletico Madrid eliminated Liverpool after two matches with a total score of 4-2.

Coach Klopp was mocked by fans for saying “booking a hotel in Istanbul (where the Champions League final will take place)” after losing to Real last year.

Coach Klopp’s teachers and students are likely to be empty-handed this season when they are eliminated in all three cup competitions (Champions League, Carabao Cup and FA Cup). In the Premier League, “The Kop” is 24 points behind Arsenal.
