Clubs in England’s top league spent a record £2.44 billion on new players during the transfer window just ended. Chelsea spent £434.5m, Manchester City spent £212.3m, while Arsenal and Manchester United paid £208m and £183.5m respectively.
Lescott thinks the Gunners and Nottingham Forest are the teams with the best summer transfer window. Lescott praised the business done by Mikel Arteta’s side, while also highlighting the positive features of Nottingham Forest.
This former player said: “I would choose Arsenal, considering the positions they need to strengthen. Nottingham Forest too. They have been much more productive this year. Last year they attracted a lot of players, but this time they have a better understanding of what they need.”
After being promoted last summer, Forest shocked when they bought 22 new players. At least a few of them have also helped this team successfully stay in the 16th place.
