In the starting line-up against Wolves that was announced shortly, coach Erik ten Hag used Luke Shaw alongside Raphael Varane in the center of defence. Shaw proved capable when he was pushed in the middle against Nottingham Forest a little while ago.
However, the fact that Shaw appeared on the field meant that Lisandro Martinez lost the spot. He wasn’t even put on the reserve list. Thus, the Argentine star cannot return to contribute to the host club, even though he returned to Man Utd before the Nottingham match.
Martinez needed to undergo a few more training sessions before being able to play again.
To clarify this question, journalist Laurie Whitwell of The Athletic gave an explanation. Currently, coach Erik ten Hag is still patiently waiting for Martinez to reintegrate with his teammates. The Dutch leader wants his beloved pupil to continue to have more training sessions to be really ready for the field.
This means that Martinez’s condition is completely fine. He will soon return to play once he finds the best harmony with his teammates in the next matches.
