Bola reported that the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI) is plan a friendly match with the top 60 teams on the FIFA rankings. This decision came after Indonesia’s 3-2 and 2-1 victories over Curacao (ranked 84th in the world).
PSSI President, Mr. Mochamad Iriawan, initially stated that Indonesia’s next opponent would be a team in the top 50. However, he later corrected it to be in the top 60: “After discussion, we wanted to find a team in the top 50. I like the top 60 teams but I will have to discuss with Technical Director Indra Sjafri and the Indonesian national team.”
Two consecutive wins against Curacao make PSSI very satisfied. The Indonesian press also praised the Korean player and coach. The atmosphere of excitement for Indonesian football appeared after two friendly matches.
Team Curacao ranked 84th on the FIFA rankings, Indonesia ranked 155th. With these two victories, the Southeast Asian representative will gain points and improve 2 places when FIFA announces the official rankings in early October.
Vietnam team met Curacao in the final of King’s Cup 2019 in Thailand. Mr. Park’s teachers and students drew 1-1 with Pham Duc Huy’s goal. After that, Cong Phuong failed in the penalty shootout, paving the way for Curacao to win the championship.
