FIFA President Gianni Infantino was just present at the opening day of the 2023 U17 World Cup finals in Indonesia. The head of the World Football Federation also attended the inauguration of the FIFA office in Jakarta.
On this occasion, Mr. Gianni Infantino spoke about the potential of Indonesian football. Accordingly, the Swiss president believes that with the leadership of the Indonesian Football Federation (PSSI), this country’s football will become an Asian power.
“We are here not only to enjoy the performances of the world’s best young players, but also to develop the sport and ensure that Indonesia will be one of the leading countries not only in Southeast Asia but also in Asia and the world,” said Gianni Infantino.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino has visited Indonesia three times this year.
“Indonesians have the capacity, scale and passion. Our duty and responsibility is to work together. The coordination between the government and the Federation [PSSI] will help football develop and people will participate and love football more in this beautiful country.”
According to Gianni Infantino, Indonesia can become one of the top football countries in the continent and even the world.
This month, the Indonesian team will have 2 matches in the second qualifying round of the 2026 World Cup in Asia. On November 16, they will host Iraq at home, and on November 21 will be a trip to the Philippines.
