Recently, Ibrahimovic, 41, played with his son Maximilian, 16, in a Milan training match on February 15. This is a small practice match between the Milan U18 team and the members of the first team – who did not play against Tottenham in the Champions League victory the day before.
Initially, according to the rules, Ibra belonged to the group of first team players, so he had to face his son. However, the Swedish striker took the initiative to ask head coach Stefano Pioli for permission to change teams, so that he could stand alongside Maximilian. In the Milan U18 team, Ibrahimovic plays as a striker, and his son plays as a left striker.
A short compilation of the match was shared on Ibrahimovic’s social media account. There, Maximilian shook hands with coach Pioli before joining the match. The eldest Ibra had a pretty powerful acceleration phase but was stopped at the last minute.
Then there was the scene where Ibra passed to Maximilian, and the teenage striker stirred up the Milan first team defense with extremely flexible foot swings. However, his stretch shot was blocked. At the end of the video, Ibra scored with the captain’s volley in the box. On social networks, everyone was excited to watch father and son Ibra compete.
One fan commented: “It is true that tigers give birth to tigers and deaths. Football is in their blood”.
Another fan joked: “Ibra’s son will definitely retire before his father.”
One person asked: “Does anyone feel old yet? I just hope the son will have half the talent of his father. That is enough for Maxi to be better than many footballers today.” .
Maximilian moved to Milan from the youth academy of Hammarby (Sweden) last summer. Vincent – 14-year-old Ibra’s second son – also follows this path.
Currently, Ibrahimovic is yet to play for Milan this season, after undergoing surgery on a knee injury. He only returned to training last week, and was named on the Rossoneri’s reserve list in the 1-0 win over Torino on February 10.
