Regarding his fitness, Modric said: “After the World Cup, I made the mistake of playing right after returning to the club and that affected me a little bit. But now I feel better and want to keep playing well until the end of the season.”
Referring to the contract extension, Modric affirmed that he wants to continue playing for Real because he deserves it. “The team leader has never given me anything for nothing in my life and neither do now! Therefore, no matter what happens, nothing can change my relationship with Real Madrid. It’s the club of my life no matter what,” Modric insisted.
Regarding his future in the Croatia national team, Modric said it has not been decided yet and needs time to think. The midfielder also insists that playing for Croatia has not affected his performance at Real Madrid.
Before the news that Real is pursuing Dortmund midfielder Bellingham, Modric said that at this moment everything is still unclear. However, he affirmed that Real is a very united team. The player sided with striker Vinicius over recent insults: “I oppose any form of racism. If that continues to happen, the authorities must intervene more strongly!”
