Barcelona’s financial problems affect the entire club. Many players are forced to sacrifice wages.
Vice-captain Sergi Roberto has just revealed unexpected information about his salary. With the club tightening the salary cap and Roberto out of contract, it is reported that he was forced to take a significant pay cut in order to sign a new one-year contract.

Many Barca players have to reduce their salaries because of the difficult economic situation.
The latest, Roberto confirmed: “Right now I’m taking my salary as if I just came from team B, but I do it with pride because I want to be here.
I wanted to stay here and now I’m enjoying it. For me the economic aspect is not important. Now what I want is to play football.
Contract year? Then only one year. I want to be physically fit again and enjoy playing football again.”
Roberto also confirmed: “I did not have to reduce my salary because my contract was over. We had to negotiate a new contract.”
