As revealed by Fabrizio Romano, if the change of ownership had been completed sooner, Manchester United would have been able to sign a few big stars during the summer transfer window. The Italian journalist said:
“The Manchester United takeover saga continues to drag on, and all I hear at the moment is that the parties involved don’t want to say too much about what’s going on.”
The Glazer family is still the owner of Man Utd.
“It was a bit of a surprise, as things seemed to be progressing quite well in March, with the expectation that it could be done in the summer, before the transfer window. But right now, we’re still at that stage.”
“At the moment nothing is imminent, nothing has been confirmed, but the feeling from sources is that things are still going on behind the scenes. So, let’s wait and see. Right now, everything is being kept quiet and secretive, but again, there’s a sense that it’s still happening.”
“Perhaps, if the takeover had been completed sooner, Man Utd had the opportunity to recruit superstar players, with names such as Harry Kane and Victor Osimhen having been linked earlier this year. In the end, it was not possible because of Man United’s financial situation.”
