In the opinion of William Gallas, instead of moving to Chelsea as rumored during the summer transfer window, Emile Smith Rowe should just leave Arsenal on loan to find opportunities to play regularly.
The former French defender commented:
“Smith Rowe moving to Chelsea is a meaningless deal for Arsenal. Smith Rowe was one of the players that was talked about a lot before he got injured, everyone was talking about Smith Rowe because he had a some impressive performances. They say he will become one of the best midfielders.”
Smith Rowe is no longer used by Arteta.
“But at the moment, it’s very difficult for Smith Rowe to develop. That’s why I’m a bit disappointed with the media, because they put some players in the spotlight too quickly and sometimes young players struggle in dealing with this problem.”
“It’s a pity because currently, Smith Rowe’s situation is very bad. He can’t play and has to sit on the bench. I don’t think moving to Chelsea would be a sensible movebut I think he should be loaned out to get more game time and regain his confidence.”
