Hasselbaink says Raya will continue to start in goal for Arsenal after earning his first start for Mikel Arteta’s side on Sunday against Everton.
Arsenal recently signed Raya on a season-long loan from Brentford during the summer transfer window. The Spanish international is expected to compete with Ramsdale for Arsenal’s No. 1 position.

Ramsdale can drop to the bench.
Ramsdale has started Arsenal’s first four games, while Raya has now been replaced in that position against Everton yesterday. The 1-0 victory helped Arsenal maintain a 2-point gap with top team Man City.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Hasselbaink said: “They [Arsenal] paid a lot of money for Raya, and I think, he is their number 1, and in the end, he will play. I think today is the first day of a series of days where he can play regularly.”
“I don’t see the goalkeepers being given a chance here or there. They need rhythm. They need to maintain that momentum.”
