Coach Xavi Hernandez admitted that Barcelona had too many situations where they lost the ball this season, typically Ilkay Gundogan’s mistake caused Alaves to open the score in the match at the weekend. Xavi affirmed that this was an unacceptable mistake.
The Spanish strategist shared:
“In terms of rankings, we’re still okay. It’s true that the team had difficulty transitioning. After the break, we played very well in the first 30 minutes of the second half. We improved a little bit.” , but we still have to try harder. We have to show class and character to win.”
Xavi spoke frankly about Gundogan’s mistake.
“Gundogan lost the ball in a situation where he doesn’t often make mistakes. At 18 seconds, it was an unacceptable mistake. This season, we lost the ball a lot, and that caused a lot of damage to the team, against Mallorca, Granada… It created a situation of insecurity, which is not good at all.”
