Matteo Guendouzi is playing at Lazio on loan from Olympique Marseille with a buyout clause next summer. In the new shirt, the French midfielder had 1 assist in 13 matches in all competitions.
In an interview with Telefoot last weekend, Guendouzi shared about the reason he left Marseille last summer: “Actually, I signed with OM because I was compatible with coach Jorge Sampaoli, that is the type of football I like whether in training sessions or matches. That’s why we have had successful seasons before, we share ideas, philosophies in every match fighting, that’s also why I can develop my abilities to the maximum.”

Guendouzi admitted he did not feel any regret after leaving Marseille.
For Guendouzi, OM has changed too much: “I was offered a long-term plan with the club but it is no longer suitable for me. In the second season, Things are no longer the same, there is a lot of instability, we changed coaches several times in two years with a fresh lineup changing each time. I had to make a decision for myself, for my career and the best decision for me at that time was to sign for Lazio.”
