Alejandro Garnacho celebrates after making his Argentina debut. The only downside to Alejandro Garnacho’s debut was that he couldn’t share the moment with Manchester United team-mate Lisandro Martinez.
Martinez is currently unavailable for the Argentina squad as he is recovering from an ankle injury.
Garnacho came on from the bench as Argentina beat Australia 2-0 in a friendly match held in China. Alejandro Garnacho played the final 16 minutes of the friendly, making his national team debut after being forced to withdraw from the team due to a ligament injury in March.
Writing on Instagram, Garnacho said: “And if this is just a dream, never wake me up. Awesome.”
He received a response from his Reds team-mate, Lisandro Martinez, who replied: “It looks good on you brother.” (“This color suits you, brother.”)
Manchester United’s academy teammates Marc Jurado, Joe Hugill, Rhys Bennett and Charlie McNeill were also among the players who congratulated Garnacho on his big moment.
