Wales manager Rob Page shared on the Mirror the possibility of bringing Gareth Bale into the coaching staff: “We will meet and discuss. Bale is still very interested in football and the team. As long as I’m here, I want Bale to be part of the Wales team.”
Gareth Bale hung up his boots in January this year. The 33-year-old has played 111 games for Wales and his last match for the national team was a 0-3 defeat to England at the 2022 World Cup. After retiring, Bale was very busy with golf.
“Bale wants to join the team in any capacity. We appreciate Bale’s value and what he can bring. When you have a star of the caliber of Bale and have contributed a lot to Wales, you have to take advantage of it. Bale can make a significant impact in the dressing room,” said Rob Page.
Even so, the former Real Madrid player will need time to consider. Mr. Rob Page said he would not rush to raise the issue with Gareth Bale.
After Bale retired from the field, Aaron Ramsey became the captain of Wales. Coach Rob Page thinks this is a natural progression for Ramsey personally. Ramsey played 78 matches for Wales. He will join his teammates in qualifying for EURO 2024 this month. Wales will meet Croatia on March 26, then host Latvia at home (March 29).
