According to sources from Goodison News, the club Everton is trying to complete the recruitment of Ajax Amsterdam striker Chuba Akpom in Januaryfacing competition from Luton Town and Crystal Palace.
Akpom joined Ajax last summer, after showing impressive scoring form for Middlesbrough in the English First Division with 28 goals in 38 appearances, helping Boro finish in the top 4 on the rankings. However, they could not enter the promotion final after losing to Coventry City.
Akpom’s contract is valid until June 2028 and given Everton’s financial problems, the loan proposal will be more feasible than a permanent transfer at this stage.
This season, the former Arsenal striker has not performed as expected with 9 goals in 20 matches in all competitions.
However, Akpom will be a quality addition to Everton’s attack when main strikers Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Beto cannot show the necessary goal-scoring ability for Everton in the relegation battle.
