Arsenal finally suffered their first defeat in the Premier League after their match against Newcastle. The two sides created a dramatic match and everything was decided only by a goal that coach Mikel Arteta called “disgraceful”.
The Spanish captain said that the VAR referee team did not do a good job because there were a series of controversial situations before. However, as for Eddie Howe, he said that everything was thoroughly checked before drawing conclusions.
When asked about his thoughts on the recent victory, coach Eddie Howe told Sky Sports:
‘We were in the dark, we stood on the side of the field seeing VAR on the screen but no picture. I haven’t seen anything other than what I saw then. For me it was a beautiful goal.
Maybe [Mikel Arteta] saw something I hadn’t seen yet.
I just saw it live and from my perspective I have no idea what’s going on
With every test going on, I thought they would find something wrong with the goal. It is very strange that there are three situations that need to be examined. But the goal was awarded and that’s all I know.”
