According to L’Equipe, Bayern Munich defender Matthijs de Ligt turned down the opportunity to join Paris Saint-Germain in the January transfer window.
PSG’s efforts to sign a centre-back have lasted throughout the transfer window. After signing Lucas Beraldo in early January, Milan Skriniar’s potentially season-ending injury has forced Les Parisiens to scour the market for another defender.
Many different faces were considered, from Leeds United’s Diego Llorente to Lille OSC’s Leny Yoro. Yoro remains the top priority and PSG will almost return to the negotiating table in the summer. However, they will certainly face increased competition for the promising French defender. According to RMC Sport, PSG also made a surprise offer to sign Bayern Munich’s de Ligt.
According to L’Equipe, PSG made a lot of effort to recruit the Dutch player. However, in the end de Ligt himself rejected a move to Parc des Princes.
