De Jong signed a new contract with Barcelona in 2020, agreeing to take a pay cut due to the difficult situation of the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was previously reported that due to the deferred salary payments currently being implemented, De Jong has the highest income at the club. However, revelations from SPORT show the opposite.
The Dutch midfielder is not the player with the highest fixed salary in the team, at 18 million euros per season. So, he ranked below Robert Lewandowski, Highest paid player at Camp Nou.

De Jong only receives the second highest salary in the entire team.
It should be noted that De Jong’s income in the 2020/21 and 2021/22 seasons is very low because the former Ajax star agreed to help Barcelona during a difficult period.
Therefore, De Jong is given a loyalty bonus at the end of each season to make up for that deficit. Specific details: 2021/22 – 2.8 million euros, 2022/23 – 2.8 million euros, 2023/24 – 6.8 million euros, 2024/25 – 4.2 million euros and 2025/26 – 4 million euros.
In addition, De Jong’s contract also includes a performance bonus clause. Accordingly, he will receive a fixed amount of money (~2 million euros) for each season in which he plays 60% of the official matches.
