Coach Mikel Arteta attacked the VAR referee team after Arsenal’s loss to Newcastle last weekend. Arsenal issued a statement shortly afterward to support the Spanish strategist.

Arsenal expressed dissatisfaction with the referee’s decisions in recent times.
Previously, Liverpool was the first team to complain directly to PGMOL after they were deprived of Luis Diaz’s legitimate goal.
However, speaking on The Athletic Football Podcast, journalist David Ornstein said he was not aware of any concerted efforts to change refereeing in the Premier League.
Ornstein said: “When I talk to other people about their clubs, I don’t think this is some coordination between Liverpool and Arsenal and other teams, to make changes towards the PGMOL (Government Body). English professional referee)”.
“We will see statement after statement. I didn’t feel like anything was coming at all and if it was happening, I didn’t know about it,” Ornstein added.
In the immediate future, Arsenal and Arteta are facing penalties from the FA (English Football Association) after they violated rules related to conduct in the media, specifically Rule E3.1.
