According to a report on Corriere dello Sport, the Saudi government wants the Saudi Pro League (SPL) champion team to have a place in the Champions League from the 2024-25 season, instead of playing the AFC Champions League.
The advisory body in Jeddah will recommend that UEFA remove the current format of the tournament and replace it with a new format, with 36 participating teams. It is known that from the season to 2024-2025, the top level tournament for European clubs will change in format and expand the number of participating teams.

UEFA President extinguished the possibility of an Arab representative participating in the Champions League.
However, in a recent sharing, UEFA president Aleksander Ceferin extinguished the prospect of Arab representatives appearing in Europe’s top arenas such as the Champions League.
“Saudi Arabian Clubs will never play in the Champions League or any other European competition,” the UEFA president affirmed.
The head of UEFA was also not pleased with the wave of European stars landing in Saudi Arabia: “As far as I know, Mbappé and Haaland do not dream of Arabs.
The players without ambition are the ones who want to move to Saudi Arabia at the moment.
The best players, at the peak of their careers, I don’t think they will go to Saudi Arabia. When people told me about the players who went there, no one knew where they played.”
