Talking to the media after defeating Arsenal and helping Sporting CP progress to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, coach Ruben Amorim received a question regarding the comparisons between him and coach Jose Mourinho. The Portuguese strategist shared (quoted by Metro):
“New Mourinho? There will never be a new Mourinho.”
“Mourinho is unique. he texted me, “(Mourinho) old and new are still here, see you at the next stage!” But, there won’t be another Mourinho.”

Amorim is highly appreciated by experts.
“I won’t forget what we’ve been through this season. We talked four weeks ago about potentially losing my job, and I’m not really worried about that either.”
“And everything I said before the game, during the game, implied that I am very happy here, the goal is to win another championship for Sporting – this is very important.”
“I don’t know what will happen tomorrow, but it won’t worry me because everything in my life moves very quickly. I won’t be the new Mourinho either, but I’m happy to be with continue Sporting’s project.”
