Previously, Enzo Fernandez also played prominently for Benfica club (Portugal) in the Champions League group stage and entered the round of 16 against Club Brugge of Belgium.

More importantly, this rising star only joined Benfica in June 2022 for a transfer fee of 10 million euros plus about 8 million euros in additional costs from River Plate club (Argentina). However, Benfica soon tied this player with a long-term contract until June 2027 with a release clause of up to 120 million euros.

However, Enzo Fernandez’s talent was quickly confirmed in the Champions League and at the 2022 World Cup, causing Europe’s top clubs to enter a dispute.

According to The Sun (England), currently two English Premier League clubs, Chelsea and Newcastle, are leading the race when they have brought a transfer offer close to the price of 120 million euros to negotiate with this rising player. In it, The Sun also revealed, Chelsea club is ready to spend money immediately and package to have Enzo Fernandez if an agreement is reached.

Currently, Enzo Fernandez, after the holidays to celebrate the 2022 World Cup championship in his home country in Argentina, has flown to Portugal and is with his agent, “super agent” Jorge Mendes, considering offers. According to the Portuguese newspaper Record, it is also possible that the 21-year-old star chooses to stay at Benfica until the end of the current season to conquer the goal of winning the Champions League as desired. Then at the end of the season he will consider joining a new club.

Facing too much attention from the top clubs in Europe today such as Chelsea, Newcastle, MU, Liverpool and even Real Madrid, PSG, the Portuguese and Argentine press all forecast that Enzo Fernandez will definitely part with Benfica right away. The winter transfer window is about to open from January 1, 2023.
