Chelsea have agreed to pay £105m to release 2022 World Cup star Enzo Fernandez when the winter transfer window opens.
Midfielder Benfica has just shined brightly in Qatar, winning the title of Best Young Player of the tournament when he and Argentina won the 2022 World Cup.

The high form that Enzo Fernandez showed helped him get into the sights of Liverpool and MU. However, Chelsea proved to be quicker when informing Benfica of a plan to release the 21-year-old player’s contract.
After the meeting between Benfica president Rui Costa, super agent Jorge Mendes and Chelsea representative, the fee of 105 million pounds (120 million euros) to tear the contract is not a problem for the Blues.
If the deal is approved by the parties, Enzo Fernandez will surpass Lukaku (97.5 million pounds) to become the most expensive player in Chelsea history.
Now the English team continues to sit at the negotiating table with Fernandez’s representative to agree on personal terms.
The reason Chelsea leaders rushed to make the deal early, not waiting for the summer transfer window of 2023, was because they were afraid of being overtaken by rivals MU or Liverpool.
Enzo Fernandez would be a great addition to Graham Potter’s midfield. The English coach is quite worried about the personnel situation, because at the end of this season, both Jorginho and Kante are out of contract.

Chelsea have contacted Declan Rice and Jude Bellingham but have not yet reached a conclusion. Therefore, they want to close Enzo Fernandez quickly to serve the long-term future.
In addition to the young Argentine star, the London team also welcomes another rookie in the next winter transfer window, David Datro Fofana – a 20-year-old striker from Molde for £ 8 million.
David Fofana is the replacement for Armando Broja, who is out injured for the rest of the season. He will compete for the position of kick in attack with Kai Havertz and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
