Today, many major Cambodian news sites said that the country’s Football Federation (FFC) announced the decision did not renew the contract with Satoshi Saito as CEO of the Cambodian Football Federation.
It is known that Satoshi Saito is a Japanese football manager. He has experience working for FC Barcelona, Japan Football Federation and FIFA. Appointed to the role of CEO of the Cambodia Football Federation in October 2021 with the goal of improving the quality and economic efficiency of football in this country.
With his contributions, CPL (Cambodian Premier League), Cambodia’s first professional tournament, was born with the participation of 8 clubs. The tournament has the active support of FIFA and AFC.
Satoshi Saito also helped attract sponsors for the CPL, improving facilities, equipment, training and promotion for the tournament.
CPL is playing an important role in helping to train and develop human resources for Cambodian football, including players, coaches, referees, technical staff and managers.
Notably, at the ongoing AFC Cup, Phnom Penh Crown Club had 3 wins in the first leg to sit at the top of Group F, surpassing regional giants such as Macarthur FC (Australia, won). 3-0), Cebu FC (Philippines, won 3-0) and Philippines (Myanmar, 4-0).
It is still unclear the cause of this separation and the replacement name in the near future.
