Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang joined Barcelona in the middle of the 2021/22 season after being let go by Arsenal. The Gunners ultimately chose to cancel Aubameyang’s contract at Emirates Stadium, allowing the Gabon international to join Barca on a free transfer.
The move to Spain immediately revived Aubameyang’s stagnant career. The Gabonese striker scored 11 goals in La Liga in the second half of the season, as Barcelona finished second in the rankings.
Aubameyang recalls his time playing for Barca.
However, with the Blaugrana still facing financial difficulties ahead of the 2022/23 season, they sold him to Chelsea. The next day, looking back on what happened, the African player frankly admitted that the period playing for Barca was the most sublime moment of his career.
Specifically, quoting from Football Espana, Aubameyang expressed:
“My time in Barcelona was the best six months of my career. I have never enjoyed playing soccer and going to practice so much. I even went to practice with the team on my days off. Unbelievable”.
Currently, Aubameyang is playing for Marseille and has just been criticized by the club’s fans.
