Arsenal is expected to prioritize adding midfield during the winter transfer window. They need a rookie next to Declan Rice in the middle of the field and Douglas Luiz is one of the rumored players recently.
Luiz is unlikely to leave Villa in January.
Arsenal’s interest in Luiz emerged more than a year ago. Arsenal tried to bring him to Emirates Stadium in the summer of 2022, but Aston Villa did not sell.
The central England team is currently in a much stronger position than last year and Luiz certainly has a significantly higher price because he just renewed his contract with Villa.
TeamTalk recently shared about the status of the deal. Accordingly, Arsenal was no longer interested in this signature in January, because of related financial issues. Their stance is similar to the case of Martin Zubimendi at Real Sociedad, who is also said to intend to move to Emirates Stadium.
These are two important people at their club, so it is very difficult for a transfer to happen in the middle of the season.
