Arsenal’s squad is not complete. Next season, the Gunners have to fight in the Champions League, so they need to add more quality rookies.
According to the European press, Arsenal are eyeing Vitor Roque. Football London affirms, Arsenal and Chelsea will step up the recruitment of Roque in the summer of 2023.
The 18-year-old continues to impress in South America and has been compared to Manchester City legend Sergio Aguero and former Man City and Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez.
The Gunners succeeded in signing Brazilian players, with Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Magalhaes and Gabriel Jesus all performing brilliantly under Mikel Arteta. Sporting director Edu Gaspar will be aware of this and Roque could be the next Brazilian player to land at Emirates.
Roque has scored four goals in seven appearances this year after hitting 19 goals in 52 appearances last year. With his rising form, Athletico Paranaense club simply cannot keep this young player.
Paranaense wants to sell Roque for a fee of around 40 million euros (£35.1 million). The report adds that Arsenal and Chelsea have both been in contact with Roque’s representatives.
The Gunners hope playing alongside a number of other Brazilian players and a Champions League spot will help them secure Roque’s signature.
