Nuno Tavares joined Arsenal in the summer of 2021 and made 22 Premier League appearances under Mikel Arteta but failed to show much in defence.

Tavares is counting his departure from the Emirates.
French newspaper L’Equipe claimed that coach Mikel Arteta and his coaching staff were “often annoyed with the behavior of the youngster”. That’s why they pushed him on loan at the beginning of this season.
TalkSPORT recently revealed that in Marseille, Tavares was also unpopular with the BHL. Coach Ivor Tudor told L’Equipe the youngster was one of those who was sent to the dressing room after a training session for lack of effort.
Tavares has not scored for Marseille since February and still holds the record of 6 goals since the beginning of the season. He was also criticized for making many defensive errors.
According to The Times, Tavares is one of a number of players the Gunners plan to sell to fund their spending over the summer. However, Eric Di Meco, the former left-back of Marseille, in a recent interview, still said that Tavares possesses “great potential” and has a lot of time to improve.
