Arsenal will look to strengthen the midfield. Mikel Arteta needs more reinforcements in the context of the Premier League title competition and return to the Champions League playing field next season.
A series of names have been linked to the Gunners recently. Among them, Declan Rice and Moises Caicedo are two central targets. However, Arsenal is having a hard time in this deal.
West Ham United turned down Arsenal’s £80m offer for Rice. Regarding the Caicedo deal, reputable sources show that Chelsea is leading Arsenal. Thus, the Gunners need to have a plan B if they miss both Rice and Caicedo.
According to Daily Mail, Arsenal consider a plan to ask for Romeo Lavia. Southampton down to play in the Championship will pave the way for many faces to leave. Lavia is one of them. The Belgian midfielder has made great progress in the Southampton shirt last season.
Lavia is considered the mainstay of the home team of St Mary’s Stadium with 34 appearances, contributing one goal. In comparison, Arsenal will save a lot of money if they successfully recruit Lavia.
The 19-year-old midfielder has a softer transfer fee than the Rice duo – Caicedo. The two main competitors with Arsenal in the Lavia deal are Liverpool and Chelsea.
