Ajax have announced Van’t Schip as interim coach after the club sacked Maurice Steijn last week. Van’t Schip will start as interim coach before taking on the role of technical director.
A club statement announcing his return said: “Ajax appoints John van’t Schip as interim head coach. The former Ajax player signs a contract with the club from October 30, 2023 to June 30, 2025. Van’t Schip and Ajax have agreed to let him take over as technical director from July 1, 2024.”

Ajax has just appointed an interim coach.
Last Sunday, Ajax fell to the bottom of the Eredivisie table after losing 2-5 to rivals PSV Eindhoven. This has been an incredibly bad season for the most successful team in the Netherlands.
Van’t Schip spent 11 years at Ajax and then returned to work as assistant manager to Marco Van Basten. He has coached many clubs and served as head coach of the Greek national team from 2019 to 2021.
