Mason Greenwood made his Getafe debut when representing Madrid defeated Osasuna 3-2. Before this match, Getafe head coach Jose Bordalas shared the reason why Greenwood moved to the team.
Bordalas affirmed that Jude Bellingham was an important factor in convincing Greenwood to join the Spanish club. It was this statement from the head coach that made people on Bellingham’s side feel offended.
For that reason, after the win over Osasuna, Bordalas clarified the misunderstanding he caused, quoting from Daily Mail:
“I want to clear up the misunderstanding that was there. I said that Mason Greenwood came to Getafe because he spoke to Bellingham. I was told it didn’t work out that way, so I’m sorry. Greenwood comes to Getafe in a different way.”
Greenwood coming to Getafe has nothing to do with Bellingham.
“Everything stems from our interest, Man Utd made an offer to Greenwood and we are interested in that. I just want to clarify the situation and have no bad intentions.”
Greenwood became a character insulted by fans at his new club’s debut. La Liga is expected to impose fines on those targeting the English striker.
