1. Netherlands – Republic of Ireland
The Dutch team still has a lot of work to do if they want to ensure a spot in EURO 2024. Up ahead they have two important confrontations with the Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar. Ronald Koeman and his team temporarily ranked second in Group B, behind France and equal on points with Greece despite playing one less match.
Virgil van Dijk’s successful penalty kick helped “Oranje” win a hard-fought victory over Greece, thereby taking control of their fate in this group. The Netherlands can win the remaining ticket to EURO 2024 by defeating the Republic of Ireland at the weekend. This is an opportunity not to be missed as their opponents have endured a disappointing qualifying campaign.
Coach Ronald Koeman continues to give opportunities to young players, with the presence of 17-year-old defender Jorrel Hato and striker Thijs Dallinga, who just scored against Liverpool in the Europa League. It is likely that the Netherlands will win the right to go to Germany after the match with the Republic of Ireland.
2. Ukraine – Italy
With outstanding strength, England is the first team from Group C to win the right to go to Germany next summer. The second ticket will be the competition between Italy and Ukraine. Both of them do not want to play in the Play-offs.
Ukraine temporarily ranked second in Group C, 3 points ahead of Italy but played one more match. “Azzurri” will welcome North Macedonia on November 17. If they win, the two teams will have equal points before facing off 3 days later (November 20).
Italy defeated Ukraine 2-1 in the match in September, thanks to Davide Frattesi’s double at San Siro. The second leg will be held at Bay Arena, Bayer Leverkusen’s home stadium, due to the ongoing conflict in this country.
Ukraine hopes Artem Dovbyk can continue to show excellent performance this season, when he scored 7 goals in La Liga after 13 matches since signing with Girona. Viktor Tsyhankov is Ukraine’s top scorer in qualifying, while Shakhtar Donetsk striker Danylo Sikan has scored three goals in four matches in the Champions League so far.
3. Wales vs Türkiye
Wales still holds out hope of winning a ticket to EURO 2024 after shocking Croatia. Harry Wilson’s double helped coach Robert Page’s team climb to 2nd place in Group D, thereby giving them plenty of opportunities to follow in Turkey’s footsteps.
Now will be a difficult time for Wales, they will have to face Armenia, before welcoming Türkiye. If they win against Armenia, Robert Page and his team will have many chances to win the second ticket of Group D because Turkey has already guaranteed its place in Germany and no longer has the motivation to compete.
